Quality engineering jobs
Otherwise known as a quality control engineer, a quality engineer evaluates products to ensure they meet a company’s specifications. They must have a varied range of skills as they may fulfil many roles, from overseeing everyday factory floor activities in order to train operators, to acting as a liaison between suppliers and customers.
A quality engineer will define the methods and equipment used to measure a process’s key quality characteristics. The engineer will also attempt to improve the standard of the process, using information collected from operations and then applying problem-solving techniques.
Potentially handing many manufacturing and technical roles, they must be able to comply with different regulation standards. Work is available in various manufacturing, food processing, agricultural or computer science industries. Tasks include reviewing operating procedures, informing employees about and supplying targets for yield improvements, co-ordinating department activities and attending meetings.
Skills required for this role include oral and written communication, project management, customer focus, problem solving, being analytical and creative, meeting deadlines and multitasking.
