What is civil engineering
If you're unsure what civil engineering involves, take a look around you! Builds that civil engineers could be involved with include bridges, roads, schools, water supplies and much more..!
But...what does a civil engineer DO?
Well you don't have to become an Isambard Kingdom Brunel overnight..! Whilst you can get involved in some, literally, huge projects such as skyscrapers, it may be the case that you're involved in adapting and maintaining current infrastructure.
How do I become a civil engineer?
There are multiple routes into civil engineering, but a good place to start is BTec qualifications as they can be taken on as either an apprenticeship scheme or full-time as college course.
Once you've gained an initial qualification, the final hurdle is to become professionally qualified as a chartered engineer (CEng), incorporated engineer (IEng) or engineering technician (EngTech).
