Building services engineer jobs
At the cutting edge of designing, developing and managing new technologies that integrate into existing systems, building services engineers ensure that everything inside a building is safe, and the environment is comfortable and pleasant to live or work in. Literally breathing life into buildings, engineers design, install and maintain services including energy supply, water, lighting, escalators and lifts, ventilation, communications, fire detection and air conditioning.
Contracts range from large-scale events to residential homes, and it’s building services engineers who are helping to create a low carbon future, as they play a significant role in the sustainability and energy demand of a building, ensuring buildings have the lowest possible carbon footprint by using technologies such as solar heating, wind energy, microgeneration and rainwater harvesting. Building services engineers tend to specialise in one of the following areas: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or public health.
