Zurich Risk Services, part of the Zurich Group, an insurance-based financial services provider comprising 55,000 employees in 120 countries has, for the last 80 years, been helping customers to identify, manage and control business risks.

Engineer surveyors help businesses comply with a wide range of legislation through independent in-service examinations of plant and machinery. They break products and services down into areas that are relevant to the way they work, calling these areas ‘risk practices’; these cover health & safety, engineering, property protection, and motor fleet risk. A nationwide team of safety inspection and risk management specialists have the experience and expertise to improve safety, efficiency and profitability.

You probably don’t think of the insurance industry as somewhere to further your career as an engineer, however there are a number of vacancies for Engineer Surveyors around the UK in a breadth of disciplines such as Lift & Crane, Power Press, Pressure Systems and Electrical. These roles are home based and Zurich will give assistance in setting up a home office. All these vacancies are customer facing, so applicants need to have strong communication skills as well as being a professional in their chosen field of expertise. You’ll also require a minimum of HNC in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. In return, Zurich offers a competitive salary, an excellent flexible benefits package and the chance to be part of a winning team in a truly global company.

Their success is down to customer focus - customers are at the heart of everything and the company always aims to be engaging and flexible, two key values of the brand and the way they do business.

Risk Services have around 600 customer-facing field workers representing Zurich on customer sites. It’s this commitment to service that ensures the customer comes first. They are market leaders because they employ the best people. But that’s not all, to make sure they remain ahead of the competition, they promote Operational Excellence and have a formal, measured training programme along with succession planning and personal development plans. There is also a ‘buddy’ system.

There is a solid team structure in place (north, central, south) with 11 engineering team leaders in each region who meet with their teams and senior management on a regular basis. Visit the stand, check out current vacancies at or email to find out more.
