Society of Operations Engineers (SOE)
SOE is a professional membership organisation, representing some 16,000 individuals and companies within the transport, plant and engineer surveying industries. Incorporating its three Professional Sectors, IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers), IPlantE (Institution of Plant Engineers) and BES (Bureau of Engineer Surveyors), SOE supports individual, corporate and academic members as well as the wider industry.
A registered charity, SOE promotes safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable operations engineering, benefiting its membership and the public. SOE champions engineering’s contribution to society and provides members with a technical events programme, CPD support, monthly magazines, a comprehensive website, technical guides and discounts on products and services.
As a licensed member of the Engineering Council, SOE registers members at all three professional registration levels – EngTech, IEng and CEng. The Society has registered more EngTechs than any other institution for the past four years, as well as the most IEngs in 2008.
SOE’s innovative Industry and Academic Partner schemes, with nationally recognised colleges, training organisations and companies, nurture tomorrow’s engineers and offer invaluable support to business. Similarly, the IRTE’s irtec licensing scheme certifies the theoretical and practical skills of PCV, heavy goods and light commercial vehicle technicians, and is respected throughout industry.
