Curtins is a company with a heritage spanning more than 50 years. We are independently owned, and this defines us: we’re run by people for people. We’ve grown organically from a small consultancy based in a house in Liverpool to having 11 offices spread across the UK.
Our specialisms include:
Civil/structural engineering, environmental, infrastructure; transport planning; sustainability, stakeholder engagement and expert advisory services. This means we can take a project from pre-planning right through to construction for our clients.
We have the resources of a large business, but the responsiveness and imagination of a small player. We manage straightforward stuff incredibly well, and incredible stuff in a straightforward way. The fact we’re so rounded means we deliver great creative results, whatever the project, delivered with our signature reliability.
Our vision is to be recognised as a leader in engineering consultancy and an employer of choice.
Our mission is therefore to deliver success for our clients and our staff, and ensuring the long term stability of the business for current and future employees. This goal requires us to:
- Provide our clients with services which represent value to them, be it through innovation, meeting and exceeding expectations in terms of quality, sustainability, delivery and by providing value for money.
- Provide our staff with a personally rewarding environment through clear leadership, support and encouragement of personal development and rewarding successful performance.
- Provide our suppliers and the organisations that we do business with valued contracts and fair treatment.
We will achieve our vision and our mission by keeping to our values both as individuals and as the company overall, which can be summarised as:
- Fostering teamwork, both within our own organisation and with those organisations we work with.
- Remaining client focused.
- Maintaining our integrity at all times.
- Maintaining our standards of quality.
Curtins is a consultancy with a heritage. We were founded in 1960 by Bill Curtin. Though Bill is no longer with us, his values live on today.
Our experience, skills and expertise have contributed to shaping the industry. You’ll find our name on the front cover of text books and industry publications.
Our independent status is important to us, and it shapes who we are and the work that we do. Our environment is democratic and everyone is both empowered and supported and has a share of the voice. People are people and not just a number, whether they are our people, our partners, or our clients.
To us, everyone – architects, other consultants, contractors and clients – is a partner and this underpins our approach. We’re easy to get on with and, when we need it, we’ve got the all-essential sense of humour. Our people are accountable, accomplished and well grounded.
We work to our strengths, which incorporate:
- A strong teamwork ethic
- A commitment to people development
- A philosophy of continuous improvement
- We work hard and play hard!
Curtins is an award winning, leading consultancy working within the built environment providing a diverse range of services that include structural engineering, transport planning, civil and infrastructure engineering, geo-environmental advice, stakeholder engagement services and other expert advisory services.
Our commitment to staff development is embedded within the culture of the company, having maintained our Investors in People accreditation over the last eight years and been included in the Building Good Employers Guide top 50 since its inception in 2007.
We've got 11 offices across the UK, all of them offering a full spread of services with key centres of excellence for the related services. We're very much one team. We're ambitious and intend to lead our corner of the market.
Our heritage goes back over 50 years, we are independently owned and this defines us. We're run by people for people and not by accountants. Our independence means we can choose our own work mix and direct our own destiny.
We compete successfully with both big and small practices which means we're great to work for; our people are given exposure to all sorts of projects, and different parts of projects from the word go. But they're not left to sink or swim, they're supported, nurtured and armed to deliver a great job.
Our thriving and sometimes hectic business life is balanced by our approach to having a healthy and vibrant social environment. We offer a variety of social, sporting and charity activities both at company-wide level and at an individual office level.
