Corus Strip Products UK

CSP UK offers a rewarding career in engineering to people who want to be challenged and contribute to the creation of a sustainable strip steel industry in Wales.

Opportunities are there for graduates and new trainees - and of course experienced professionals with relevant skills. CSP UK is the largest employer of engineering and technically-minded people in South Wales.

Recently acquired by the Tata Group, the business produces 5 million tonnes of steel per annum from raw materials through to finished strip product primarily for the automotive, construction and the wide-ranging appliances industry.

The business is now part of a dynamic, international and growing concern. High-calibre engineers working together in a range of disciplines including electrical, electronic, computing, mechanical, civil, structural, chemical and process engineering, provide a range of engineering support and services to ensure their integrated steel making facilities are safe, are maintained to the highest practicable standards; are developed to meet increasing production targets and comply with legislative and mandatory engineering standards.

The business demands a wide range of engineering technologies, from concept engineering to plant condition monitoring, from energy efficiency modelling to reliability engineering. CSP UK operate and maintain complex process plant from blast furnaces to state-of-the-art coating lines along with the associated services and infrastructure such as power generation.

They operate two of the largest engineering workshops in South Wales where they maintain a process plant and equipment and also manufacture new; both shops have extensive machining, fitting and fabrication capabilities. In addition, the company recruits from a wide variety of backgrounds to roles that support the engineers in the workplace: these are people who "engineer" strategies such as people-management, communications, supplies, commercial activity and communications.

Continuous improvement is at the heart of everything they do including personal development. They will invest in your personal development to improve your capability and career progression opportunities. Professional development of engineers is key to the future of CSP UK. The Professional Development Scheme for Engineers is accredited by the IET and I MechE and supported by Chartered mentors who will help you achieve chartered status and career aspirations. CSP UK is in a process of positive change.

A highly dynamic, committed workforce is working to re-engineer the culture of the business to create a sustainable business that will thrive in its international context and continue to make its positive impact on the community, global and local, into the future.
