Severn Trent is a FTSE 100 water company, serving 8.1 million people across the Midlands and into north and mid-Wales.
We provide our customers with almost two billion litres of water every day and remove 2.6 billion litres of waste water through enough pipes to go round the world three-and-a-half times. Our network has the most water pipes of any company in the sector and the largest network of sewers outside of the capital. Our customers are able to enjoy the lowest average combined bills in the country, paying less than £1 a day for all of their water and waste water needs. That means they can enjoy 30 glasses of fresh water for less than 1p.
We’ve trebled the number of vulnerable customers we’ve helped with a range of schemes in the last twelve months, and aim to do more. We also generate the equivalent of a third of the energy we use from our own sources, helping to both make our sites more cost-efficient and to help keep customer bills low. Alongside this, the water industry is changing… and we’re changing with it. Over the next decade, our business is and will face a series of complex and unprecedented challenges, from deregulation to a shifting climate. Overcoming them will take fluid thinking – and the solutions we deliver will have major implications, not just for the millions of people we serve, but for the global community.
Our investment plans will see us plough more than £6bn into our network between 2015 and 2020, which is around £1,400 for every one of our customers. The programme includes our biggest ever scheme, the Birmingham Resilience Project, which is designed to provide a long-term alternative water supply to the city. There are lots more exciting programmes of work like this that we need to deliver on to give us the innovative edge on the industry whilst providing fantastic technical engineering solutions for our customers. In order to fulfil our ambitious plans we need new talent to join our existing high performing teams at Severn Trent and support us in delivering our vision. This has opened up a number of opportunities including Programme and Project managers, Solution Engineers, Design Engineers and Quantity Surveyors.
