Safety and Reliability Society (SaRS)

Company Profile

Safety and Reliability Society's objective is to enhance the professionalism and reputation of all those involved in safety and reliability technology.

Our aims are to:

  • Encourage the development and use of safety and reliability technology
  • Provide an international forum for the exchange of information on safety and reliability matters
  • Establish professional and educational standards for safety and reliability engineers
  • Establish standard techniques and encourage consistency in their application
  • Encourage organisations and government departments to apply safety and reliability techniques

The Safety and Reliability Society was formed in the UK in 1980, and now has members in the UK, mainland Europe, the Middle East, USA and the Asia Pacific region. The Society also has an Affiliate membership scheme for academic institutions, industrial companies, and other organisations with interests in safety and reliability and engineering risk management.

Membership of SaRS provides many benefits including opportunities for professional development, networking with like-minded professionals and access to knowledge about safety and reliability, as well as a route to Engineering Council Chartership. As well as our membership schemes, SaRS is a Professional Affiliate of the Engineering Council and has links with many organisations including European Safety and Reliability Association (ESRA) and British Standards Institute (BSI). SaRS provides a peer reviewed quarterly Journal and convenes national and regional events. The SaRS website has been developed with the needs of the membership in mind and includes a full archive of journal articles since 1980.
